NRA Announces Temporary Closure of Freetown Airport Cargo Terminal for ECOWAS Summit

The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has announced the temporary closure of the Cargo Terminal at Freetown International Airport from 17 to 19 July 2026 to facilitate security and operational arrangements ahead of the ECOWAS Mid-Year Summit.

In a public notice issued on 9 July 2026, the Authority informed cargo clients, importers, exporters, clearing agents, other stakeholders, and the general public that all cargo handling services and related terminal operations will be suspended throughout the three-day period.

According to the NRA, the Cargo Terminal will not be accessible to the public while the temporary closure is in effect as part of preparations for the regional summit.

The Authority apologized for any inconvenience the suspension of services may cause and appealed to affected stakeholders for their patience, cooperation, and understanding during the period.

The NRA further assured the public that normal cargo handling services and terminal operations will resume on 20 July 2026.

For further enquiries, the Authority advised stakeholders to contact the NRA via +232-80-839-839 or info@nra.gov.sl.

The notice was issued by order of the Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority.
