Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara (JFK) Esq., has called on President Dr. Julius Maada Bio to resign, arguing that the President’s recent public remarks amount to an admission of leadership failure.

In a strongly worded commentary, Kamara said President Bio’s acknowledgment at a Makeni Town Hall meeting that he had to step down as Minister of Energy due to challenges raises serious questions about his capacity to continue leading the nation.

He described the statement not as a casual remark, but as what he termed a “clear admission of failure,” insisting that it sets a standard the President himself must now be held to account for.

According to Kamara, in established democracies, such admissions often trigger political consequences, including resignation or loss of confidence. He referenced political developments in other jurisdictions, including the United Kingdom, where leaders have faced pressure to step down when judged incapable of meeting public expectations.

“If the President cannot successfully manage the Ministry of Energy, it raises questions about his ability to manage the affairs of the nation,” Kamara stated.

He further argued that leadership credibility is undermined when a head of state admits inability to effectively manage a key government portfolio in the past, adding that such a record should prompt national reflection on governance capacity.

Kamara concluded by calling for President Bio’s resignation, stating that failure at ministerial level, in his view, translates into broader concerns about national leadership.

“When a leader concedes failure in a critical sector, the public must ask: if you cannot manage a ministry, how can you manage a country? The answer is clear: resign,” he asserted.
