A travel technology company, Flot, has announced a major upgrade to its platform aimed at reducing the friction faced by travelers booking international flights from Sierra Leone while also improving affordability and convenience.

According to the company, the latest update was developed following an internal review of its product roadmap, during which the team reflected on key challenges affecting air travel in the country. These included the difficulties travelers face when making international payments, as well as the common practice of passengers traveling to neighbouring Conakry in search of cheaper flight options.

The company also considered broader structural questions around how technology could be used to strengthen Sierra Leone’s aviation ecosystem and position Freetown as a more competitive departure hub for both local and regional travelers.

With the new upgrade, the Flot app now provides users access to competitive global airfares directly from Freetown, eliminating the need for additional travel to secure better ticket prices.

In addition to flight booking improvements, the platform has introduced added value for customers. Every flight booked through Flot will now come with a complimentary Flot Platinum Visa Card, designed to offer enhanced travel benefits and improve the overall travel experience.

The company described the development as part of its broader mission to simplify global travel, making it more affordable and accessible for users.
