The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has called on all public officers legally required to declare their income, assets and liabilities to comply with the ongoing 2026 Asset Declaration Exercise ahead of the July 20 deadline.

In a public notice issued on June 29, the Commission urged eligible officials who have not yet completed the process to submit their declarations promptly through its online Asset Declaration Portal.

The ACC explained that the requirement is anchored in Section 119(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act of 2008, as amended in 2019, and applies to a broad category of public officials. These include officers in Grade 7 and above, elected officials, presidential appointees, and individuals occupying positions with fiduciary or financial responsibilities.

According to the Commission, the asset declaration system is a key transparency mechanism aimed at strengthening accountability in public service and supporting efforts to combat corruption across government institutions.

The ACC warned that failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe, or the submission of false, incomplete or misleading information, constitutes a violation of the law.

It further referenced Section 122A(1) of the Act, which provides for administrative sanctions against non-compliant officers, including potential penalties such as the withholding of salaries where applicable.

The Commission encouraged all affected public officers to complete the declaration process through its online portal before the July 20 deadline to avoid enforcement actions.

Reaffirming its mandate, the ACC stressed its continued commitment to promoting transparency, accountability and strict adherence to anti-corruption regulations, urging public officers to fulfil their legal obligations within the required timeframe.
