The Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Hon. Abdul Kargbo, has confirmed that the remains of the late National Chairman of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hon. Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, are scheduled to arrive in Sierra Leone on Thursday at 4:30 p.m., as preparations for the repatriation continue.
In a statement outlining activities carried out during the process, Hon. Kargbo said he and Hon. Emerson Lamina met with the Sierra Leone Ambassador to Senegal at the Embassy before proceeding to the mortuary where the late chairman’s body is being kept.
He noted that at the mortuary, the delegation met with the late chairman’s wife, affectionately referred to as “Aunty Kay,” and spent time with her as the family continues to grieve. According to him, the delegation formally identified the body and observed the sealing of the coffin to ensure that all required procedures were properly followed.
Hon. Kargbo further disclosed that he will travel to Sierra Leone earlier on Thursday at 7:30 a.m. to make preparations ahead of the arrival of the remains and to personally receive the body at the airport upon its arrival later in the day.
He emphasized that the APC is working closely with the Government of Sierra Leone and all relevant authorities to ensure that the repatriation process is handled in a smooth, respectful, and dignified manner.
