Honourable Sidie Mohamed Tunis, a flagbearer aspirant of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party, has donated Le500,000 to support teachers of Islamic Secondary School during the school’s annual prize-giving ceremony held in Kenema on 9 May 2026.

The event was attended by school authorities, alumni members, teachers, students, parents, and community stakeholders.

According to Honourable Tunis, the funds are intended to serve as a revolving support system for teachers, providing financial assistance during difficult times.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Smart I.B. Kokofele, President of the alumni association, KISSOSA, highlighted the importance of education in shaping the future of young people. He urged teachers to remain committed to their duties and described alumni support as essential to sustaining schools and promoting excellence.

The school’s principal expressed appreciation for the donation, describing it as timely and meaningful. He stated that part of the funds would be ring-fenced to provide interest-free soft loans to teachers, while the remainder would be used to boost morale and improve teaching conditions.

Parents and teachers welcomed the initiative, noting that community partnerships are vital to strengthening the education sector. They also called on other alumni and well-wishers to emulate the gesture by investing in the future of children through support to educators.

The ceremony ended with prayers and messages of encouragement, reflecting unity and progress within the school community.
