Prominent lawyer and political Figure Ady Macauley has stated that his decision to contest for the flagbearer position of the All People’s Congress (APC) is driven by a commitment to strengthen the party and advance the interests of ordinary Sierra Leoneans, rather than personal ambition.
Speaking on his political intentions, Macauley emphasized that his bid is anchored on what he described as the urgent need to reposition the APC for future electoral competitiveness and effective governance. He said his focus is on rebuilding internal cohesion, improving strategy, and ensuring that the party remains responsive to the expectations of its supporters nationwide.
He further cautioned that without strong and decisive leadership within the opposition, the political environment ahead of the 2028 general elections could remain highly contentious. According to him, credible leadership and clear strategic direction are essential to safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process and strengthening democratic participation in the country.
Macauley maintained that his aspiration is not self-serving, but rather aimed at ensuring that the APC remains a viable political force capable of addressing national challenges and representing the interests of its supporters effectively.
The All People’s Congress (APC) remains one of Sierra Leone’s two major political parties, alongside the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party, both of which are expected to play central roles in shaping the country’s political direction ahead of the 2028 elections.
