The Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), University of Sierra Leone, has hosted a delegation of students and staff from the American International School of Conakry (AISC) as part of efforts to assess African universities for student placement and academic collaboration.

The delegation was received by IPAM’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Duramany Lakkoh, who conducted them on a tour of the institution’s faculties, departments, and academic programmes. During the engagement, Professor Lakkoh outlined IPAM’s admission requirements, course offerings, and available facilities.

He highlighted the institution’s strong academic reputation and its strategic collaborations with universities and institutions across the globe, emphasizing IPAM’s unique role in Sierra Leone’s higher education sector as a centre of excellence committed to quality teaching, research, and professional development.

Professor Lakkoh encouraged the visiting students and teachers to consider IPAM as a preferred destination for higher learning, noting that several programmes are offered through flexible learning arrangements, including options accessible to students outside Sierra Leone.

“IPAM remains open to international students, and some of our courses can be accessed even if you are not physically in Sierra Leone,” he said. He also invited teachers from the American International School of Conakry to explore opportunities for further studies and academic partnerships with IPAM.

Speaking on behalf of the visiting students, Musa expressed appreciation to the IPAM management for the warm reception and informative engagement, describing the visit as a valuable experience that would help guide their academic decisions.

The American International School of Conakry, established in 1963, provides American-style education in Guinea’s capital. Initially founded to educate dependents of United States Embassy staff, the school has since expanded to accommodate both local and international students.

Over the past year, IPAM has attracted several international institutions, a development attributed to proactive leadership at the institution.

The visit marks another step toward strengthening academic exchange and international cooperation between IPAM and educational institutions across the West African sub-region and beyond.
