The Magistrate Court at Mile 91 Town has committed two men, Sorie Kargbo and Abdul Realman Kamara, to the High Court following charges of burglary, larceny, and receiving stolen goods.

The ruling was delivered by His Worship Magistrate Harold Kamara after reviewing evidence presented by the prosecution, led by Sub-Inspector I. F. Bangura. The defendants appeared unrepresented during the proceedings.

According to the court records, the defendants faced the following charges:

Count 1: Burglary and Larceny, contrary to sections 25(1) and 13(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.

Count 2: Receiving stolen goods, contrary to section 33(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

No plea was taken at the arraignment due to the indictable nature of the offences. The matter proceeded by committal proceedings to determine whether there was sufficient evidence to warrant a trial in the High Court.

The prosecution presented two witnesses and multiple exhibits, including statements from the complainants, voluntary cautioned statements from both defendants, photographs of the crime scene showing a damaged ceiling, and recovered stolen items, including a plasma television and a solar power battery.

The court found that:

The dwelling of one of the complainants was unlawfully entered, and several valuable items, including cash, mobile phones, a plasma television, and a solar battery, were stolen.

The first defendant, Sorie Kargbo, admitted being present at the scene, taking the stolen items, and handing them over to the second defendant for sale.

The second defendant, Abdul Realman Kamara, admitted receiving the items for the purpose of sale, raising a strong inference that he knew the items were stolen.

Magistrate Kamara concluded that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against both defendants and that the offences were beyond the jurisdiction of the Magistrate Court.

Consequently, the court ordered that:

Sorie Kargbo be committed to the High Court for trial on charges of burglary and larceny.

Abdul Realman Kamara be committed to the High Court for trial on the charge of receiving stolen goods.

The ruling was formally delivered on 30th January 2026.
