The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Mr. Babadi Kamara, has departed Freetown for Rabat, Morocco, to participate in key continental football engagements, including the TotalEnergies AFCON 2026 Final and a high-level meeting of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

As the sun rose over Freetown on Thursday morning, President Kamara left the country on a mission that highlights Sierra Leone’s growing presence and influence within African football administration. His visit to Morocco underscores the SLFA’s commitment to active participation in major continental football events and decision-making processes.

While in Rabat, President Kamara will witness one of African football’s most anticipated fixtures—the TotalEnergies AFCON 2026 Final between reigning champions Senegal and host nation Morocco. Beyond the excitement of the final, the trip carries significant strategic importance for Sierra Leonean football.

On 16th January 2026, the SLFA President is scheduled to attend an in-person meeting with the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), alongside fellow Member Association Presidents. The high-level engagement is expected to focus on the future direction of African football, development frameworks, governance reforms, and collaborative efforts aimed at strengthening the game across the continent.

President Kamara’s participation in both the AFCON final and the CAF leadership meeting reflects his commitment to ensuring that Sierra Leone’s football interests are represented at the highest levels. It also reinforces the SLFA’s vision of fostering strong partnerships, promoting development-driven policies, and positioning Sierra Leonean football within key continental conversations.

The trip marks another step in the SLFA’s broader agenda to advance football development, institutional strengthening, and international cooperation as Sierra Leone continues its pursuit of growth and excellence in the sport.
