Hundreds of participants joined a health walk from the Freetown Golf Club to Family Kingdom and back on Saturday, aimed at raising awareness of prostate cancer among men aged 45 and above.
The event was organized by Prostate Cancer UK, Prostate Cancer Sierra Leone (Jaden), and supported by Ady Macauley, a presidential aspirant with the APC. It highlighted the importance of early screening, public education, and open dialogue about men’s health.
Speaking at the event, Macauley said, “A nation cannot prosper when its people are unwell. My vision is for a Sierra Leone where every citizen has access to quality healthcare, and early detection of diseases like prostate cancer becomes standard practice.”
He also emphasised the need for improved oncology services, expanded medical infrastructure, and better training for healthcare professionals to strengthen cancer care in the country.
Organizers said the walk reflects a growing commitment to collaborative health initiatives in Sierra Leone, encouraging citizens to seek regular screening and to discuss prostate health openly.
