The Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) has deepened its technical collaboration with the Ministry of Energy by presenting early prototypes of two digital tools aimed at improving coordination, sector planning, and data-driven decision-making within the energy sector.

The briefing, held on Friday, 14th November, brought together the Minister of Energy, the Deputy Minister, and senior technical staff, who were given an in-depth look at the progress made so far.

During the session, DSTI guided the Ministry’s leadership through the prototypes, demonstrating how the systems are being developed and how they will support day-to-day oversight of energy operations. Discussions centered on what is working effectively, which features are most critical for the Ministry, and how the tools will enhance communication and coordination across institutions delivering electricity services.

This collaboration builds on DSTI’s mandate under the National Digital Transformation Strategy, which seeks to simplify access to reliable information, improve activity tracking, and promote data-informed decision-making across key sectors.

The prototypes showcased are intended to improve visibility across the energy ecosystem, strengthen reporting processes, and support efficient coordination among stakeholders. The Minister of Energy provided guidance on refining specific features, emphasizing the importance of digital solutions tailored to sector needs and enabling timely access to accurate data.

DSTI’s technical teams will continue to enhance the tools in partnership with the Ministry, the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), and other relevant stakeholders.

The engagement reaffirms DSTI’s commitment to building digital systems that advance governance, planning, and public service delivery in line with the Big Five priorities and the national digital strategy.

Through this partnership, DSTI aims to:

Develop technology solutions that improve clarity and efficiency

Support Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in using data to guide operations

Strengthen sector planning by improving access to reliable information

DSTI will continue working closely with the Ministry of Energy’s technical teams to integrate feedback from the session and accelerate the next phase of the tools’ development. Further updates will be provided as the solutions move toward implementation.
