The Government of Sierra Leone has announced a nationwide reduction in public transport fares. Effective Friday, July 25, 2025, passengers across both urban and provincial routes will benefit from a 7% decrease in fares.

The Ministry of Transport and Aviation attributed the fare cuts to the recent drop in fuel prices from NLe 27.00 to NLe 25.00 per litre for petrol and diesel. Working in collaboration with the Motor Drivers Union and other transport stakeholders, the Ministry ensured the fare reduction reflects the fuel price changes and provides tangible relief for daily commuters.
