The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) has declared the key dates for the conduct of the Paramount Chief Member of Parliament (PCMP) election in Tonkolili District, following the vacancy left by the sudden death of PCMP Alhaji Masakama Kanamanka III of Kholifa Rowallah Chiefdom.

In a press statement, the ECSL confirmed receiving notification from the Clerk of Parliament, in accordance with section 39(1) of the Constitution of 1991 (Act No. 6 of 1991).

The late PCMP Alhaji Masakama Kanamanka III passed away on 8th November 2024.

The ECSL, exercising its powers under Sections 33, 72, and 74(1)(a) of the Constitution of Sierra Leone, 1991; Sections 68 and 98 of the Public Elections Act, 2022 (Act No. 17 of 2022); and Section 28 of the Paramount Chieftaincy Act, 2009 (Act No. 10 of 2009), has set the following schedule:

Nomination of Candidates: Nominations for the PCMP by-elections will take place from Thursday 20th to Friday 21st February 2025, between 10 am to 4 pm at the District Office, 5 Boys School Road, Magburaka Town.

Polling Day: The election is scheduled for Saturday, 5th April 2025.
