Diamond Platnumz, the Tanzanian music superstar, and Dystinct, the Moroccan who is known for his genre that blends R&B, Afrobeat and Arabic influences, are amongst the main acts at the CAF Awards on Monday night.
The 2024 CAF Awards will shine a spotlight on the best players, coaches and teams on the continent over the past year but will provide a platform to take in the sights and sounds of Africa’s vibrant entertainment scene.
Monday’s glittering ceremony will be staged at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco from 19h00 local time (18h00 GMT/ 20h00 Cairo time/ 21h00 East African time), and showcases the continent’s best performers on and off the pitch over the past year.
But away from the Beautiful Game, it will also be the platform for world-class artists in music and dance to dazzle the global audience watching around the world.
Diamond Platnumz is a Tanzanian music superstar, known for his blend of Bongo Flava and Afrobeat, and will be a headline act.
He has achieved international fame as a singer, songwriter and entrepreneur, and is the founder and CEO of WCB Wasafi Record Label, Wasafi Bet and Wasafi Media, becoming the first Africa-based artist to reach 900 million views on YouTube.
He has released four albums, Kamwambie (2010), Lala Salama (2012), A Boy from Tandale (2018) and First of All (2022), and has taken on several ambassadorial roles for various brands.
Also on stage will be Dystinct, a Moroccan singer known for blending R&B, Afrobeat and Arabic influences into his music, creating a unique and vibrant sound.
He has won numerous awards from his two albums, Mon Voyage (2021) and Layali (2023), and has collaborated with some top artists, including French singer Franglish.
There will also be performances from the orchestral Trio Andalou, the female group Women in Jazz and a dance performance choreographed by Adil Nakach, a Hip-Hop and House dancer from Casablanca.
