Kenema, Sierra Leone – Continuing its mission to enhance educational opportunities for the youth, Ibrahim BRIMA Swarray’s Foundation has on Thursday 8th August 2024, launched the fourth edition of its free summer school program in Kenema. This initiative, aligned with President Julius Maada Bio’s vision for a prosperous Sierra Leone, will run from July 29th to August 31st, 2024.
At the launch event, Mr. Ibrahim Brima Swarray, CEO of the Foundation, highlighted the critical role of education in nation-building. He encouraged students to make the most of this opportunity to develop their potential and contribute to the country’s future. “The summer school and other key projects by the foundation support President Bio’s dream of making Sierra Leone a better place for all,” Swarray stated. He also urged parents and guardians to motivate their children to excel and become pillars of hope for the nation. Additionally, Mr. Swarray expressed his condolences for the late Mr. Mohamed Amadu Sesay alias O’Level, former District Council Chairman, who passed away on August 6th, 2024.
Mr. Swarray emphasized that the free summer school program, along with the free quiz and debate competitions, are in line with President Julius Maada Bio’s vision. He assured the audience that these programs would continue as long as the president and the SLPP remained in power. “We aspire to see more doctors, engineers, ministers, and even a president emerge from Kenema. This will only be possible if you pursue your education. We didn’t have the privilege of free summer schools, quizzes, and debates, but you are fortunate to have these opportunities,” he noted.
The theme for this year’s program, “Education is a Right, Not a Privilege,” underscores the foundation’s commitment to making education accessible to all. The initiative is expected to benefit nearly ten thousand pupils from both primary and secondary schools, providing comprehensive academic support and enriching their knowledge and skills during the summer break.
Hassantu Bah, a parent of six, expressed deep gratitude towards Mr. Swarray for his steadfast support. “I thank him for his unwavering support to us and pray for a prosperous future for him and the president,” Bah remarked.
Massaquoi Manna Massaquoi, the country director of the foundation, is leading the program alongside his dedicated team. Their efforts ensure the smooth and effective operation of the summer school, offering a valuable educational experience to all participants.
Mr. Massaquoi also highlighted the achievements of Ibrahim Brima Swarray’s Foundation, noting that the CEO, Mr. Swarray, is the sole sponsor of the program. He explained that over ten thousand pupils nationwide have benefited from the foundation’s activities. He urged the students to seize this opportunity to lift their families out of poverty.
The free summer school program stands as a testament to the foundation’s dedication to education and its pivotal role in shaping Sierra Leone’s future.
