Sierra Leonean Citizens have joined 18 Countries who are now exempted from paying Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) fees after submitting their eTA applications through the digital platform www.etakenya.go.ke. with effect from 9th April 2024. Below are the recent 10 countries that have been granted the ETA Gratis:
- Botswana,
- Eswatini,
- Gambia,
- Ghana,
- Lesotho,
- Malawi,
- Mauritius,
- Sierra Leone,
- Zambia,
10.Zimbabwe.
This brings to a total of eighteen (18) Countries that are now being issued ETA Gratis.
Meanwhile, the Kenyan Government announced that from 01st January 2024, travelers to Kenya will not require a Visa and will instead apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization. The ETA system has replaced the eVisa system for Kenya and is currently in effect.
The processing fee is USD 30, payable online at time of application. All non Kenyan citizen visitors, including infants and children, who intend to travel to the Republic of Kenya are required to have an approved eTA before the start of their journey.
To implement this new policy, Kenya launched an online digital platform to ensure that all travellers to Kenya are identified and undergo the required security clearance prior to their travel to Kenya.
Not having to apply for a Visa is a major advantage for travelers and the ETA ensures Kenya maintains basic safety and security when allowing visitors into the country.
Prospective Sierra Leonean Visitors will now apply for the eTA via www.etakenya.go.ke and will be exempted from paying a processing fee of USD 30. It is recommended that travelers apply for the ETA at least 3 days prior to their travel to Kenya so as to ensure adequate time for receiving authorisation.
