Chancery Building Site Visit: A Waste of Tax Payers Money… SAMURA KAMARA HAS NO CASE TO ANSWER

It was a dramatic scene on Thursday afternoon at 245 East, 49th Street, New York, on the neglected Chancery building of the Sierra Leone Mission, which has been left ruined even though funds meant for renovation of the building were first disbursed in 2019, a year into the Bio-led Sierra Leone Peoples Party administration.

On orders from Justice Andrian Fisher , over dozen government officials are lying at expensive New York hotels on lavish per diem on the pretex of inspecting a hazardous building, which a neighbour confirmed, had been an eyesore and an embarrassment to the Republic of Sierra Leone.

The building, which previously served as the headquarters of Sierra Leonean diplomats assigned to the United Nations in New York, was left abandoned despite the fact that, the past regime had kicked off arrangements for its renovation.

Since 2019, almost US$5 million meant for the renovation of the building were missing and testimonies have proven some officials of the current regime were to be held accountable for this but they are walking free while Dr. Samura Kamara (the strongest contender of President Julius Maada Bio) has been subjected to every inhuman attack from the regime.

Defense lawyers for the accused persons including Sierra Leone’s longest serving technocrat, (Dr. Samura Kamara) were at the scene beforehand, prosecution counsel, government officials, including Justice Fisher were late for the site seeing of the building.

Question whether Sierra Leone’s court sitting is allowed in the US jurisdiction remains hanging given the fact that, the state has spent almost four years to investigate a very small chancery building.

“It’s pure waste of time tax payers money…. Money meant for the renovation of the chancery building were not disbursed while Samura Kamara was in charge of the Ministry of foreign affairs. Samura Kamara didn’t deceive the principal, his testimonies about the chancery building is very factual and the site seeing has clearly revealed the seasoned technocrat, now most acceptable politician in Sierra Leone, was very clear in his testimony before the court,” Dr. Samura Kamara’s lawyers continue to argue, earlier raising concerns about safety while on the visit given the nature of the building.

An answer to the argument of jurisdiction is that the site visit is outside of the judge’s responsibility in the matter.

It is the responsibility of the prosecution to bring evidence to support their case but it’s very apparent Fisher is in League with the Anti-corruption Commission ( an affront to Justice which many right-minded Sierra Leoneans are seeking for.

From the look of things, the visit at the chancery building is just another burden on the state’s purse as nothing new will emerge from it.

Many Sierra Leoneans back home are agog about the conclusion of the case since it has to do with Dr. Samura Kamara, the Leader of the main opposition, All Peoples Congress, the majority party in current parliament with huge popularity, as an alternative, to the biting hardship affecting Sierra Leone at the moment.
