The CEO and Publisher of the Owl Newspaper, Commissioner Alhaji Dauda Musa Bangura aka Galaxy, on Friday 25th November 2022, bagged another humanitarian award from ‘Chrismans Foundations’ – for his exemplary leadership, professionalism, and commitment in delivering selfless service to humanity and his outstanding support to the growth and development of the organization.
The event took place at the Empire Hotel in Freetown.
Commissioner Bangura, was honored by the ‘Chrismans Foundations’ in recognition of his selfless and relentless support, as well as his outstanding contribution to the growth and development of the Chrismans Foundations’ and Sierra Leone as a whole.
The Chrismans Foundations award is a valuable decoration awarded to recognize Sierra Leoneans who have exemplified themselves by implementing valuable contributions to the nation in areas of public service, arts, science and philanthropy.
Commissioner Alhaji Dauda Bangura, who is a respected Journalist has contributed exceedingly to the development of the nation in the field of academia, business, sports, and promoting as well as protecting freedom of speech in Sierra Leone.
The young media practitioner is the owner and publisher of the Owl Newspaper – which is the faster growing newspaper in the country with a wider online readership.
He was one time Commissioner for the Independent Media Commission (IMC), where he served diligently, and has acquired plethora of knowledge in public procurement, Ethics, Communication Strategist and diplomacy, which created room for him to serve as Vice President II for the Old Prince Waleans Association (OPWA).
Under his direction, the IMC documented constructive modification driven by fairness, integrity, accountability, and transparency – in his leadership as publisher of the Owl Newspaper, it has gained high credibility and acceptance locally and internationally in terms of news coverage.
It could be recalled that five years ago, the Chrismans Foundation was formally launched as a non-profitable organization for the purpose of impacting the lives of vulnerable children especially the girl child. It should be noted that having been in effective operation for the past five years, the organization has provided timely academic and mentorship support to more than 2,500 children that falls under mandate.
The organization has also extended it level of operation not only in Western Area but in districts such as Kambia, Koinadugu and Moyamba.
The organization is providing educational support as part of it core mandate to bring hope, motivation and transformation on the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable children especially the less privileged girl child in Sierra Leone. Importantly also, the Chrismans Foundation has also renovated schools in a bid to creating a learning environment that is conducive and fit for academic purpose in this modern era.
