The National Chairman of Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Dr. Prince Alex Harding has been released unconditionally from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Freetown on Monday 8th November, 2021 after spending one day in detention.
It could be recalled that Dr. Prince Alex Harding was detained at the CID Headquarters on allegations that he instructed his Police security to shoot and kill one Don Pole on 29th June 2021.
Though Dr. Harding is a peace-loving Sierra Leonean who always goes according to the law, this latest scandal greatly damages his chances of winning the National Chairman position of the SLPP at the party’s next delegates’ convention taking into account the fact that, several younger contestants with stainless characters have emerged that are vying for the same position. Dr. Harding will find it extremely difficult to defeat these young, stainless characters.
It could be recalled that Dr Harding has in recent past been embroiled in several scandals within and outside his party and has become a tainted politician in the past few years.
There are many people within the SLPP that believe it is high time for him to take a back seat and allow younger leaders to emerge.
