The Sierra Leone Police have confirmed that 41 nationals were recently deported from the United States, with immigration authorities citing incomplete documentation as the main cause.
The disclosure was made by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Mohamed Kugba Allieu, head of the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU), during a press briefing at the Senior Police Officers Mess in Kingtom. He explained that the latest deportations form part of a broader trend, with nearly 2,000 more Sierra Leoneans expected to be returned from the U.S. before the close of 2025.
Data from TOCU indicates that incomplete or improper documentation accounts for about 95 percent of deportation cases involving Sierra Leonean nationals. CSP Allieu emphasized the importance of proper compliance with immigration laws, warning that failure to meet requirements continues to expose Sierra Leoneans abroad to forced repatriation.
Authorities say the police and relevant agencies are monitoring the situation closely, with plans to facilitate the safe reception and reintegration of returnees.
