Hon. Abdul Kargbo, Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, has lost his residence to a devastating fire that completely gutted the property, leaving nothing behind.
The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday night, just days after an earlier electrical mishap. Hon. Kargbo disclosed that his nephew’s phone had exploded while charging due to unstable electricity, raising concerns about power fluctuations.
“This night, a fire broke out and completely gutted my entire house. I was unable to save anything,” Hon. Kargbo shared.
Despite the loss, he expressed gratitude for his safety and urged the public to remain cautious.
“This has been a devastating experience, but I am grateful for life. Please be cautious with power fluctuations. Stay safe, everyone,” he advised.
The incident underscores the ongoing challenges of electrical safety and power stability in the country. Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the fire, but it raises concerns over fire prevention and household electrical risks.
Over the past two months, fire incidents have been on the rise across the capital, with many linked to unstable electricity supply from the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA). These incidents have resulted in the loss of lives and properties worth millions of leones.
