The Ummah Welfare Trust (UWT) has reinforced its commitment to quality Islamic education by conducting a two-day training program for monitors/coaches and internal monitors/coaches across the country.
The training, held on February 14 and 15, 2025, took place at the Qur’anic Tarbiyah Academy in Mankneh Timbo, Makeni—a facility constructed and inaugurated in 2025.
The purpose of the training was to equip monitors with the necessary skills to oversee and ensure the effective implementation of UWT’s academic curriculum, which includes Quranic studies, Tajweed, character-building subjects based on Islamic values, and innovative teaching methods.

The initiative is part of UWT’s broader objective of facilitating a generation of excellence and productive minds through a well-structured and values-driven education system.
The event was attended by several management staff members of UWT, who reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to providing a nurturing learning environment where students can thrive academically and morally.
The management emphasized that their approach goes beyond traditional education, aiming to mould individuals who can contribute positively to Sierra Leone’s human capital development and the global Muslim community.

The Qur’anic Tarbiyah Academy stands as the latest milestone in UWT’s long-standing efforts to improve education in Sierra Leone. Across all 14 districts, the organization supports over 43,000 students by providing essential educational materials such as uniforms, books, and school bags.
Additionally, UWT assists more than 1,600 teachers and has recently recruited new educators to further strengthen its academic programs.

Through this initiative, UWT continues to play a vital role in improving educational standards while upholding Islamic values, demonstrating its dedication to the holistic development of students and the overall advancement of Sierra Leone’s education sector and productive human capital development.
