In a significant diplomatic event, the Special Envoy for Trade and Investment, Mr. Alpha K. M. Lavalie, recently held an engaging meeting with the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia, Ali Ibrahim Alheji.

Mr. Lavalie expressed gratitude to Ali Ibrahim Alheji for the invitation he extended to his office during the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia Independence Day Celebration, Mr Alpha K M Lavalie also extend gratitude on behalf of the government and people of Sierra Leone for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s substantial support, particularly in the areas of education, infrastructure, and the Annual Hajj pilgrimage.

He commended the Saudi government’s sustained dedication to development efforts in Sierra Leone, which have had a lasting impact on educational and spiritual life in the country.

The meeting covered several strategic areas of collaboration, notably agriculture, mining, fisheries, and trade. Both parties acknowledged the immense potential within these sectors and emphasized the importance of harnessing this potential for mutual benefit.

The Saudi Chargé d’Affaires, Ali Ibrahim Alheji, highlighted the possibility of future support from Saudi Arabia aimed at helping Sierra Leone export goods, especially in the fisheries sector and cash crops, to the global market.

A highlight of the meeting was the official invitation extended by Ali Ibrahim Alheji to the government of Sierra Leone to attend the forthcoming 28th Edition of the World Investment Conference, scheduled for November 25-27, 2024, in Riyadh.

Ali Ibrahim Alheji assured that he would encourage investors from Saudi Arabia and the broader Gulf region to explore potential investments in Sierra Leone, acknowledging the country’s strategic position as a hub within the West African sub-region.
