SLCB Celebrates Customer Service Week

The nation’s largest publicly owned financial institution, the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank today Monday, October 11, 2021, launched its annually celebrated Customer Service Week at the bank’s Siaka Stevens Street headquarters in Freetown on this year’s global customer week theme: Power of service”.

Customer Service Week is an international celebration of the importance of customer service and of the people who serve and support customers daily. Customer Service centres on Professionalism, Patience and People-first.

Speaking at the Bank, the Acting Managing Director of the Bank Bockarie Kalokoh highlighted that quality customer service is at the heart of retaining customers. He joined other senior management staff in the banking hall to interact with customers who expressed satisfaction with the services provided to them by SLCB.

“This is a Sierra Leonean story,” he said, noting that that for over 48 years the bank has served the Sierra Leone public satisfactorily.

MD Kalokoh who stressed that the customers come first, declared, “We are very excited to commence the customer service week…”

The service he highlighted is critical because you can attract and retain customers as it brings you, people. “Any business that wants to improve, customer service is critical With customers and the bank coming together, this is a way of improving customer service,” MD Kalokoh said.

He added: “Every day we are trying to improve on our service to reach international benchmarks… it’s a continuous process…”

MD Kalokoh in his interaction with two customers showed them the wide array of new digital products SLCB now offers its customers that make banking easy and hassle-free.

Moses Komboh Sesay, SLCB Director of Business Development said the week is to appreciate customers for the volume of business that they give to the bank and to get feedback from them. He said various programs are lined up for customers to feel appreciated and that top management is engaged to get a feel of what customers go through in their daily interaction with the bank. He spoke of the bank’s products and how they will continue to improve on them.

Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Limited was founded on the 15th of February 1973 to serve large corporations, small and medium enterprises and personal account holders and is Sierra Leone’s first fully indigenous bank with a wide range of world-class services. SLCB has its headquarters on Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown with thirteen branches across the country.  Though the government is the majority shareholder, the bank is operated as a private enterprise.
