Sheikh Farouk Adam Bah has fiercely criticized Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh following his allegations that religious houses are involved in electricity theft. During the Chief Minister’s weekly press briefing, the claims were made, prompting an impassioned response from the prominent Islamic leader.

Sheikh Farouk condemned the allegations as baseless and offensive. “To claim that mosques are stealing electricity is not only false but deeply disrespectful,” he stated. “Power is trivial compared to the integrity of our religious institutions, and to misuse such power in making these accusations reflects a profound misunderstanding of our faith.”

He warned that such statements could lead to divine disfavor. “Remarks like these anger Allah,” Sheikh Farouk explained. “Mosques are sanctuaries where the faithful gather to worship and seek blessings. To accuse them of theft is an egregious insult.”

Sheikh Farouk further cautioned against the spiritual consequences of attacking sacred institutions. “One must not be deluded by their current position to disrespect places of worship. Such actions invite divine retribution and can result in public disgrace,” he warned.

He also suggested that the Chief Minister’s accusations might be an attempt to deflect from governmental shortcomings. “The Chief Minister’s failure to address the needs of the people has led to this blame-shifting onto religious houses, which is an act of sacrilege,” Sheikh Farouk asserted.

The controversy has sparked widespread discussion, with many urging for respectful dialogue regarding religious entities and their significance in society. Sheikh Farouk’s strong rebuttal highlights the deep reverence held for religious institutions and the importance of protecting their integrity against unfounded accusations.
