The Newly appointed NaCSA Commissioner – Dr. Sao Kpato Hannah Isatta Max-Kyne and the Deputy Commissioner – Jimmy Batilo Songa have met with staff of the commission. It could be recalled that on 18th January 2021, the President, His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio appointed the two named persons to manage the affairs of the Commission as per its mandate described in NaCSA Act of 2019.
In her maiden address to staff, Commissioner Max-Kyne expressed her continued commitment in ensuring the success of the President’s vision for NaCSA and Sierra Leone. ‘’NaCSA is an enviable and very strategic institution in government and it has evolved in terms of mandate, staff and leadership. I have the opportunity to work with former Commissioner Kokofele as his deputy; thus, those I have worked with know my leadership style. I want to let you know that I learnt a lot from his leadership and I will be bringing in a lot of lessons learnt, coupled with some of my own to make sure that we have a very good team. NaCSA remains an institution that has a middle level management that actually goes out in the field operationalizing the ideas of NaCSA and also the new direction agenda.’’ She noted.
Jimmy Batilo Songa, the newly appointed deputy Commissioner of NaCSA highlighted three focus areas and called on staff to be committed to the work they do. ‘’I am here primarily for three reasons; to work with the Commissioner in ensuring that NaCSA achieved its mandate and by extension the new direction government, ensure that the vision of the president and everything promised in the people’s manifesto are implemented to the latter and to look after staff welfare.’’ He pledged to work assiduously with the Commissioner to make the staff of the Commission very happy. In the same vain, the chairman, NaCSA’s board of directors – PC Foday Musa Gbogbotoh II called on staff to support the Commissioner in the same spirit as they have demonstrated during the days of the former Commissioner Kokofele.
Speaking on behalf of staff, the Senior Director of Programme Development and Quality Assurance, Dr. Susan Robert noted that *‘’… today is a historic day; historic not only for NaCSA and Sierra Leone but for women in particular. This is the first time for a woman to serve as Commissioner of NaCSA. I therefore, encourage all especially female staff to be more supportive.’’ She describes the former Commissioner as a ‘’goodman, a good listener and a true leader with an open-door policy.’’ In climax, she congratulated the newly appointed Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner, thanked the former Commissioner for his service and extended appreciation to the staff for their continue supports and the pledge they have made to support the new leadership.
