Residents of Kenema District, along with concerned individuals, are planning a peaceful protest in response to what they claim are gross human rights violations by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) against a former employee, Mr. Idrisa Kalil.

According to the residents in Kenema, MSF’s actions violate the organization’s own medical policy, which guarantees comprehensive care for staff in need of medical attention.

Mr. Kalil, a former MSF staff member, sustained severe injuries in a workplace accident while cleaning water tank in Lagor Community Health Center in Kenema. Medical evaluations recommended that he urgently undergo a hip replacement surgery abroad.

However, Mr. Kalil alleges that MSF disregarded his medical report and terminated his employment without providing end-of-service benefits. But with support from Friends and family members, Mr. Kalil undergo the surgery.

As a result of this alleged negligence, Mr. Kalil is facing severe emotional distress, depression, and ongoing health struggles. He claims that MSF’s abandonment has left him in a vulnerable state, with potentially life-threatening consequences if not addressed.

Mr. Kalil has reached out to Members of Parliament, civil rights activists, the Office of the Ombudsman, the Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone, and various government agencies, urging them to intervene and ensure that justice is served.

The case has sparked widespread concerns, with many demanding accountability from MSF for what they view as a serious injustice.
