Mayor of Freetown, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, has provided an update on the progress of the implementation of Resolution 4 of the Agreement for National Unity. Although the process has been slower than initially anticipated, Aki-Sawyerr emphasized that recent weeks have seen a marked acceleration in the efforts.

In a statement shared on her official platform, Aki-Sawyerr revealed that she had recently held a productive meeting with key figures from the All People’s Congress (APC), including Deputy National Chairman Ambassador Alhaji Foday Yansaneh, APC National Secretary General Lansana Dumbuya, and Attorney General Hon Alpha Sesay.

The meeting focused on the next steps in the ongoing discussions surrounding the release of detainees and the return of exiles as part of the resolution.Aki-Sawyerr expressed optimism that the Resolution 4 Committee, which is currently reviewing relevant cases, will soon make significant strides in its implementation.
