Freetown Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr led the commemoration of the 9th anniversary of the end of the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone. She paid tribute to the lives lost during the crisis and highlighted the ongoing struggles of survivors.

Reflecting on her role as the Director of Planning at the National Ebola Response Centre (NERC) during the outbreak, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr expressed gratitude to the healthcare workers and volunteers who risked their lives to combat the virus, calling them “unsung heroes.”

Mayor Aki-Sawyerr emphasized the importance of never forgetting the families affected by Ebola and the survivors who continue to face health challenges.
