International Women’s Day: Meet Cecilia Aissiatu Munu, Breaking Barriers and Leading with Excellence in the Military

On International Women’s Day, let’s celebrate Cecilia Aissiatu Munu, a trailblazer in the military. With a distinguished career since her enlistment in 1999, she currently serves as the Second in Command at the 11 Infantry Battalion in Kambia, breaking barriers as the first female in this role.

Cecilia has held various crucial appointments, showcasing her leadership, including overseas deployments to MINUSMA in 2016 (Mali) and UNSOM in 2018 (Somalia).

Her commitment is underscored by completing Military Courses such as the Junior Staff Course in 2011 and the Intermediate Staff Course in 2020.

As the Staff Officer Grade 2 Gender at MoD and in other key roles, she has significantly contributed to the Armed Forces. Cecilia Aissiatu Munu is a symbol of resilience and excellence in her service to the nation.
