Hon. Lamina Puts Smiles on the Faces of Kono Youths

The people’s Honorable, Saa Emerson Lamina has again put smiles on the faces of youth in his Constituency by donating four motorbikes for administrative use and for use as revolving funds for women traders.
The beneficiaries, Kono Bike Riders Union and Women Executives of Constituency 030 will use the bikes for administrative purpose and as revolving funds for members respectively.
Co-chairs of the ceremony were the Kono District Bike Riders Union Chairman- Mohameh Koroma and the Deputy Chairman of Constituency 030, Tamba Agibu Koineh.
Both described the Honorable as “a Good Samaritan” who listens to the cries of his constituents.
This marks the sixth bikes donated to the executive of Constituency 030 by Honorable Lamina for the benefactors to use to generate funds for use to address some of the welfare issues of members.
Councillors Moiba Missah, Juliet Mambu shared in their statements complimented Honourable Lamina and referred to him as “a talk-and-do” politician.
The Bike Riders Chairman who doubles as the Chairman of the donation ceremony outlined the myriad of developments Hon. Lamina undertook in the interest of the Kono Bike Riders Union (KBRU) as Mayor of Koidu City. These he maintained, ranged from a public toilet to cash donations and computer systems.
“Hon. Lamina has always stood by KBRU in our good and bad times,” the KBRU Chairman noted pointing out that he was very instrumental in securing the release of their colleagues held in police custody for petty traffic misdeamenours. He pledged the total support of the KBRU to the Honorable’s sociopolitical initiatives in the district as a whole and the Constituency in particular.
Abu Mansaray a Constituent and a trusted Director of Hon. Lamina’s development programmes and projects outlined the Honorable’s already accomplished tangibles projects before his mid term review including. These, Mr. Mansaray disclosed include but not limited to a primary school structure, a-ten Room Public toilet constructed in collaboration with Diaspora based Kono Reunion, multitude of hand dug wells and bore holes, a progressive cassava farm at Faandu, supply of hand tools to support the cleaning exercises in his Constituency, payment of college fees for deserving and meritorious students in colleges and universities.
In his goodwill message to the beneficiaries, the Hon. Member indicated that the KBRU stands tall among the lot of youth-led organizations in the district. Hon. Lamina maintained that through the KBRU, an estimated 65% of youth in the district are contributing positively to the socioeconomic improvement of life in a District that depends on mining, agriculture and trade for their livelihood.
“The Bike Riders as a union, an organization, is facilitating jobs for youth in the district and this is going a long way in mitigating the incidences of crime and other anti social threats to the security of the district because most of the youth that could have been acting otherwise, are now engaged in meaningful income generation activity through commercial bike riding,” Hon. Lamina pointed out.
He stressed on the word of tolerance to the youth called on them to imbibe tolerance in every sphere of the interactions.
“In putting tolerance into practice, it eshews respect for each other’s views and opinions and should be cooperational rather than competitional,” he stated and pinpointed that it is high time the young people of Kono practiced “ politics of cooperation rather than competition” he maintained, and appealed to the people of Kono in general to be law-abiding, to keep safe by complying with Government’s COVID-19 regulations, and also encouraged all Kono residents to be disciplined, to show love and solidarity towards one another.
