The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has issued a public notice regarding the upcoming replacement of 33kV conductors as part of the Energy Sector Utility Reform Project (ESURP) Additional Financing under the World Bank. The procurement of the conductors by the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Contractor, KESEC, has been completed, marking a significant milestone in the project’s progress.

The replacement of the existing conductors, spanning from Kingtom 161 to Wellington and Blackhall Road, is scheduled to commence on Saturday, March 23rd, and continue until Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024. The contractor plans to undertake the replacement work daily for eight hours, from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, over the course of one month.

The primary objective of this activity is to overcome current line capacity limitations and enhance the 33kV distribution line capacity. By increasing the capacity, EDSA aims to improve its ability to transport more power to customers, particularly those in the EAST and FAR WEST regions of Sierra Leone.

During the replacement period, customers connected to the 33kV distribution line will experience intermittent power outages. Affected areas include Spur Road, Wilberforce, Imatt, Regent, Bathurst, Lumley, Atlantic Beach, Regent Road, Sheriff Drive, Malama, Pentagon, Juba, Goderich, Adonkia, Mambo, Sussex, Ropotee, Wellington, Jui, Grafton, Hastings, Rokel, and Waterloo.

EDSA assures the public that upon completion of this project, there will be a significant reduction in power outages experienced on the 33kV lines. The authority acknowledges the inconvenience this may cause to its valued customers and appeals for patience and understanding during the works to improve network efficiency
