The Guinean government has allegedly declared Mr. Alimamy Bangura, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Guinea, persona non grata and ordered him to leave the country immediately.

This move comes amid a growing controversy surrounding a cocaine-related scandal involving prominent Sierra Leonean businessman Alhaji Bah.The decision to expel Ambassador Bangura has sparked confusion, particularly in light of conflicting statements from Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

While the government initially claimed that Ambassador Bangura was urgently summoned to provide a full account of the situation, the diplomatic incident has escalated with Guinea’s declaration.

Sources in Guinea suggest that the scandal involves Alhaji Bah, a businessman with substantial real estate and other business interests in Freetown, as well as strong political connections.

Although the Sierra Leonean government has refused to identify a second individual implicated in the matter, it is believed that the person in question may also have significant ties to the political and business elite of Sierra Leone.

The unfolding situation raises serious questions about the involvement of high-profile figures in illicit activities and has put diplomatic relations between the two neighboring nations under intense scrutiny.
