Few days before the publications of the Sierra Leone Auditor General’s Report indicating the “Worst Mismanagement of Sierra Leone Funds by the Sierra Leone People’s party (SLPP) Government,” BBC’s Umaru Fofanah has posted on his facebook issues indicating that this country has to answer with regard compliance to international protocols.
“Sierra Leone’s Auditor General, Lara Taylor-Pearce has been suspended indefinitely. The highly-respected career auditor who has headed the institution for 10 years, has confirmed receiving a letter from the Office of the President which among other things states that the Attorney General is to set up a tribunal to look into Audit Service Sierra Leone “for professional performance or the lack thereof”.
According to Umaru Fofanah, Mrs. Taylor-Pearce told him that she had not been told what the remit of the tribunal was or what wrongdoing she and one of her deputies (also suspended) had committed. Fofanah added that according to the AG, “it has been consistent in releasing hard-hitting audit reports about the handling of state resources by the former and present government.”
This media was able to gather from reliable sources that the Sierra Leone Minister of Finance; and State House officials do not want it released in its current form.
They actually decided based on information received to suspend the Auditor General.
Hundreds of Sierra Leonean online viewers have expressed their dissatisfaction to the government of Sierra Leone suspending the most credible Sierra Leonean .
Some Sierra Leoneans sit is because the current SLPP Government does not want their businesses to be exposed is the reason why they are fighting the AG. Another school of thought has it that, it is because the current SLPP administration has a lot to hide in terms of administrative and other ways is the main reason the current SLPP Government is doing its worst to do what it can to fake the general public.
As far as this press is concerned, the SLPP Government of President Julius Maada must begin to sifter truth from reality and also sifter fact from fiction as far as governance reality in Sierra Leone is concerned.
