In a recent address, Lansana Dumbuya, the National Secretary General of the opposition All Peoples Congress (APC), firmly refuted claims that the party’s national executive received a bribe of approximately two million US dollars from President Julius Maada Bio in connection with the June 24, 2023 general elections.

Speaking at the launch of the party’s nationwide membership registration and verification exercise in Kailahun District, Dumbuya labeled these allegations as unfounded and part of a deliberate attempt to undermine the party’s integrity.

Dumbuya’s statement was supported by the party’s National Deputy Publicity Secretary and other senior officials, who also rejected the bribery accusations. However, internal tensions persist, with some members alleging that APC’s 2023 presidential candidate, Dr. Samura Kamara, might have secretly received a significant sum from President Bio after the controversial election results were announced.

The APC National Secretary General condemned these rumors as baseless attempts to tarnish the party’s reputation. He urged APC members and supporters to ignore misleading social media posts and rely on official communications from the party’s National Publicity Secretary.

As the APC moves past the 2023 elections, Dumbuya highlighted the party’s current focus on strategizing for the 2028 elections, emphasizing their commitment to reclaiming power in future contests.
