The All People’s Congress (APC) has issued a public notice outlining the rules and requirements for organizations seeking to associate or affiliate with the party.
This announcement, in line with the APC Constitution of 2022, provides clear guidelines for existing affiliate groups and new organizations that wish to be part of the APC.
Citing Article 9 (b) of the APC Constitution, the notice states that associate membership is open to Sierra Leonean organizations that align with the aims, objectives, policies, and programs of the party. The National Advisory Committee (NAC) has instructed the APC’s National Secretariat to release the new Rules of Association/Affiliation, along with the relevant application fees and membership dues.
Criteria for Association/Affiliation Membership:
To qualify for association with the APC, organizations must meet several key requirements:
1. Legal Registration: Organizations must be registered under the laws of Sierra Leone.
2. Constitutional Framework: Each organization must have an existing constitution.
3. APC Membership: All members of the organization must be registered and fully paid-up members of the APC.
4. Executive Structure: The organization must have a clearly defined executive, elected in accordance with its constitution.
5. Minimum Membership: The organization must have no fewer than 70 members.
6. Group Limitation: No member of an organization can belong to more than two associate groups affiliated with the APC.
7. Application and Dues: Organizations must apply for membership in an appropriate form and pay the required yearly dues.
The application fee has been set at Le 100 (One Hundred Leones), while the yearly subscription fee for membership will be Le 5,000 (Five Thousand Leones).
This move is part of the APC’s efforts to formalize its relationships with various organizations and ensure that all affiliate groups adhere to the party’s values and objectives.
By establishing these rules, the APC seeks to strengthen its internal structure and foster a more unified and committed membership base.
Existing affiliate groups and new organizations interested in joining the APC are encouraged to adhere to these criteria to maintain their association with the party.
