Veteran politician of the All People’s Congress (APC), Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo, has emphasized that the APC cannot afford another election loss, warning that such a defeat could lead to the disintegration of the party.

Speaking at a recent gathering, Kargbo called for unity among the party’s factions, noting that internal divisions pose an existential threat to the party’s future.

Kargbo stressed the importance of party elders stepping back only after the APC regains power, acknowledging the significant number of candidates—over 19—vying for the party’s flagbearer position in the 2028 elections.

He pointed out the need to narrow down the field, noting that “the presidency is serious business,” and only those with the right credentials should be considered.

He revealed ongoing efforts by the party’s Elders Council to organize a crucial meeting between the current APC executive and the party’s former flagbearer, Dr. Samura Kamara, in hopes of fostering reconciliation and strengthening the party ahead of future elections.

Kargbo also lamented the detrimental impact of social media on the party’s image, calling for more responsible communication and a revival of the APC’s official newspaper to combat misinformation.

Alhaji Ben Kargbo underscored the urgency of resolving internal conflicts before the next election, warning that another defeat could severely undermine the party’s viability.

He stressed that the long-standing divide between Team A and Team B within the APC has weakened the party’s effectiveness, making it crucial to restore unity and focus on winning future elections.
