Ahead of Const. 005 Kailahun By-Election… SLPP TO MAKE ANOTHER BIG MISTAKE

Reliable sources have revealed to this press that, the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) is planning to field candidates for the yet unannounced constituency 005 by-election in Kailahun District, that are current members of the SLPP and working in various government departments.

The individual who filled this position is now deceased; which calls for a by-election for another individual to fill this vacant position.

If this is the case, then according to political pundits and social analysts, the SLPP would be making the biggest mistake in it’s almost five years’ tenure to think that it can put who it wishes into this position against the will of the people.

It is against the laws of Sierra Leone especially in electoral matters for sitting government officials to contest for any electoral position (s) unless that or (those) official (s) resign (s) from his/her position in government at least six months to one year before contesting for an electoral position.

There are many questions coming from the general public about officials serving in the current SLPP government that are keen and are even seeking and attempting to contest for electoral positions despite the fact that, they are still serving in the current SLPP government and have not in any way been relieved of their responsibility or resigned from their position as the case should be.

It is against this background that, tongues are now wagging about this latest political gimmick attempted by the SLPP – to impose unwanted candidates for positions that can be easily filled through transparent and fair elections by candidates from the most favorite All People’s Congress (APC) and from other opposition political parties, if NEC and other relevant bodies allow a level playing political field to hold in this country.

Our investigations reveal that some of the people working within the SLPP Government and receiving salaries from the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF) and that are currently attempting to contest for electoral positions but have not yet honorably resigned from their respective positions as the case should be are: Bartholomew Boima Bockarie who is a Senior Lecturer at Fourah Bay College (FBC) University of Sierra Leone,

Valentine B Sualley Assistant Deputy Director at Disaster Management Unit Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),

Alfred Mio Jamiru working at DICOVERC/NaCOVERC,

Septimus S. Vandi Vice Principal Holy Trinity School in Kenema,

Ambrose Vandi Bundeh (not actually working for the government). He is however a Senior Geologist/ Environmentalist/ WASH Expert for group of companies also known as B2K Consultants SL Ltd.

The other individual is Victor Ansumana Esq. whose relationship with the SLPP as a worker is known but his position is yet to be confirmed.
