Ahead of CAF General Assembly Tomorrow, Isha Johansen Receives Warm Welcome from Ethiopian Ministers

Isha Johansen, the esteemed CAF Executive Member and FIFA Council Member representing Africa, arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, this morning to a warm reception led by the Honorable Madam Nafisa Almadi, the State Minister of Culture and Sports.

This welcome comes as Ethiopia prepares to host the 46th CAF Ordinary General Assembly, scheduled for tomorrow, October 22, 2024.

Upon her arrival, Johansen attended the Executive Council meeting, where crucial discussions regarding the future of African football took place.

She is now gearing up to watch a special legends match, set to occur later today, which will feature notable players, including Sierra Leonean footballer Rodney Strasser.

The general assembly will be held at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel, a premier venue recognized for hosting high-profile events, starting at 10:00 AM local time (07:00 GMT).

This marks Ethiopia’s second time hosting the CAF Congress, having previously done so in 2017.Ethiopia’s preparations reflect its commitment to being a pivotal hub for African football discussions, welcoming delegates from CAF Member Associations, zonal unions, and prominent figures from the global football community.

The Ethiopian Skylight Hotel has been meticulously equipped to cater to the influx of attendees, featuring spacious meeting rooms, comprehensive media centers, and high-quality hospitality services.In addition to the general assembly, a series of zonal union meetings are set to take place from October 20 to 21.

These sessions will include discussions among various football associations, such as COSAFA, WAFU A and B, UNIFFAC, CECAFA, and UNAF, as well as a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee.

This initiative ensures active participation and engagement in the lead-up to the congress.The agenda for the assembly will cover significant topics regarding the future of African football, culminating in a press conference led by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe.

The legends match today will add a festive element to the proceedings and is anticipated to be a highlight for attendees.Ethiopia, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and passion for sports, has long been a key player in the development of football across the continent.
