In a remarkable show of comradeship and leadership, prominent lawyer and 2028 APC flagbearer front-runner, Ady Macauley, met with the All People’s Congress (APC) National Young Congress (NYC) on March 20, 2025, at the APC Party Headquarters in Freetown.

The meeting, which underscored Macauley’s deep-rooted commitment to the party’s youth wing, was marked by a significant donation of 160 bags of rice, aimed at supporting members during the sacred observances of Ramadan and Lent. This gesture ensures that each of the 160 youth leaders nationwide receives a bag of rice.

Macauley, a former Patron Youth League member and long-time supporter of the NYC, commended the current leadership for their dedication and effectiveness in steering the Congress. “You are the foundation of this party and the future of what lies ahead,” he told the gathering, emphasizing the pivotal role of youth in shaping both party and national decisions. He urged members to embrace inclusivity, maximize their potential, and recognize their critical responsibility in the APC’s future.

Importantly, Macauley stressed the value of respecting senior comrades, noting that such discipline would enhance their leadership and personal development. His words resonated with the audience, reinforcing a culture of unity, loyalty, and mentorship within the APC.

Former NYC Secretary-General, Alie Conteh, praised Macauley’s longstanding contributions to the Congress. “He has always been a staunch supporter and believer in the NYC. His investments—financially, legally, and structurally—have played a major role in building the Congress we are proud of today,” Conteh remarked. He further urged Macauley to continue his unwavering support, affirming that the youth will always count on his guidance.

Adding to the commendations, APC National Young Congress (NYC) President, Ansu Barnard, acknowledged Macauley’s substantial impact on the Congress. He praised Macauley’s legal defense of NYC members during difficult times, as well as his consistent mentorship and guidance.

“What we’ve heard about him has always been positive. This donation is not only timely but deeply meaningful,” Barnard expressed. He assured that the rice donation would be fairly distributed across all district leaderships, ensuring that every NYC branch recognizes Macauley’s support.

Ady Macauley’s engagement with the NYC and his generous Ramadan and Lent donation highlight a critical turning point for the APC’s youth base. This act of goodwill not only reinforces trust and loyalty among young members but also cements his influence as a key leader heading into 2028.

By recognizing the NYC as decision-makers at both party and national levels, Macauley is strategically positioning himself as a leader who values youth empowerment, party unity, and progressive leadership. His consistent support for the Congress—whether through legal advocacy, financial assistance, or mentorship—demonstrates a profound understanding of the role young people play in shaping the APC’s future.

As the race for the APC’s 2028 flagbearer intensifies, acts of leadership and service like this will continue to define the political landscape. For many within the NYC, Ady Macauley’s commitment speaks volumes—not just as a leader but as a true party loyalist who has always stood by them.

His message was clear: the youth are the backbone of the APC, and with unity, respect, and determination, their role in shaping Sierra Leone’s political future is undeniable.
