Prominent APC politician Diana Konomanyi has urged women across Sierra Leone to embrace their strength, resilience, and potential as the country joins the world in celebrating International Women’s Day 2025 under the theme “Accelerate Action!”
Konomanyi expressed deep appreciation for the significance of this day, emphasizing that setting aside a global occasion to celebrate women is a powerful recognition of their contributions to society. She stated that International Women’s Day inspires her to work even harder to prove that when women are given equal rights and opportunities, they can help accelerate national and global development.
“International Women’s Day gives me even more zeal to show that if women are granted equal opportunities, they can work alongside men to fast-track progress in Sierra Leone and beyond,” she stated.
Konomanyi called on women not to underestimate their inner strength and determination. She urged them to step forward, embrace their talents, and take up leadership roles without fear or hesitation.
“On this International Women’s Day, let us celebrate the strength, resilience, and brilliance of women everywhere. Together, we can break barriers, uplift voices, and create a future where every woman is empowered to lead and thrive. The time for change is now—let’s make it happen!” she declared.

Addressing young girls, especially schoolgirls, Konomanyi encouraged them to take their education seriously and prove that women are capable of excelling in every field. She applauded the increasing number of female graduates in Sierra Leone, emphasizing that this is a testament to the progress being made in empowering girls through education.
“Now is the time to accelerate and put more effort into your studies. Show the world that women can thrive in any platform,” she advised.
She also urged all women to take a moment to reflect on the past year, identify areas for improvement, and work towards even greater achievements in the future.
“Congratulations to all women in Sierra Leone! But beyond celebration, let us reflect on where we fell short last year and correct it so that we can build an even stronger theme for next year’s celebration,” she concluded.
As the world marks International Women’s Day 2025, Konomanyi’s message serves as a strong call to action for women to seize opportunities, challenge societal limitations, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
