FIFA Commends East End Lions for Construction of Club’s Playing Field Under Chairman Anthony Navo’s Leadership

FIFA Regional Development Manager, Madam Fatou Kamara and FIFA Technical Consultant, Mr. Issaka Adamou have commended the leadership of Ambassador Anthony Navo Jr., as Chairman of the East End Lions Football Club in Sierra Leone.

Both FIFA highly ranked personalities further expressed satisfaction with development so far, in the construction of the Club’s Playing Field at Trade Centre in the east of Freetown.

They were both very impress by the progress made by Chairman Navo and the Club’s management, stating: “We now believe that football is truly changing in Sierra Leone”.

They personally requested that the Lion continues to kill as they have been doing back in the days. Madam Fatou Kamara said: “I am highly impressed by the remarkable transformation of the East End Lions Football Pitch, under the leadership of Chairman Navo.

When I visited this site two years ago, it was a dusty and undeveloped area. Today, it has been completely transformed into a lush green pitch, providing a professional playing surface that meets modern football standards.“

The addition of a solid perimeter fence ensures security and structure, while the planned dressing rooms and spectator stands will further enhance the facility, making it a true asset for the Club and the wider football community.

This progress reflects a strong commitment to football development, and I commend East End Lions for their vision and dedication to the football.

I look forward to seeing the completion of the remaining infrastructure and the positive impact this facility will have on the game in Sierra Leone and number of kills the killer will on the pitch.”

At the completion of the project to upgrade the East End Lions Football Club Pitch at Trade Centre to a state-of-the-art facility, it would be utilised not only by the Club but also every Sierra Leonean, including residents within the east end of Freetown.

According to Chairman Navo, the initiative marks a significant milestone for the Club, signaling the dawn of a new era, while emphasising the Club’s commitment to progress as materials and contractors have been mobilised for the construction of a cutting-edge pitch at the Trade Centre.

Football fans who spoke to AYV said Chairman Navo’s love for the country and not only football is unmatched at all levels.A retired footballer, Abdul Akim Sesay fondly called Maradona, praised Chairman Navo’s commitment and strides towards the development of the game.

He said if Sierra Leone could have more of the Chairman Anthony Navo’s, the country would be high in Global Development ranking.Maradona said: “We have witnessed on several occasions Chairman Navo stating that the Trade Centre Pitch will be upgraded to a modern Pitch and will be made accessible to not only the Club but the community and the whole country.

The commencement of the Pitch construction represents a significant step forward for the East End Lions Football Club in particular and Sierra Leone in general”.The Club is one of the two largest and most successful football clubs (along with their main rivals, the Mighty Blackpool) in Sierra Leone’s football history.

This Club was founded in 1928 and is one of the oldest football clubs in Sierra Leone.
