During the debate on the proposed 2024 National Council for Technical and Vocational Education Act, held on 28th January 2025 in the Chamber of Parliament, Hon. Mariama Bangura, representing the All People’s Congress (APC) Party from the Western Urban District, made a passionate call for the effective implementation and monitoring of the proposed legislation.
In her remarks, Hon. Bangura highlighted the importance of students pursuing studies in technical and vocational fields, underscoring the need to adapt to the rapid global transformation driven by innovation and technology.
Addressing educational stakeholders, she urged parents, students, teachers, and school administrators to prioritize the development of middle-level manpower. She emphasized the crucial role of parents, teachers, and school heads in guiding children towards favorable career paths aligned with national and global needs.
Hon. Bangura also called on educational authorities to address the infrastructural needs of vocational schools.
She concluded by stressing the importance of proper monitoring and implementation of the 2024 National Council for Technical and Vocational Education Act once it becomes law.
