Mayor Aki-Sawyerr Meets British High Commissioner to Strengthen Collaboration on Key Initiatives

Freetown’s Mayor, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, met with the British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, H.E. Josephine Gauld, to discuss various issues aimed at enhancing collaboration between Freetown and the United Kingdom.

The meeting, held in the morning, focused on identifying areas where joint efforts could further the goals of the #TransformFreetown initiative and improve the lives of residents through #TransformingLives projects.

A significant part of the discussion centered on the ongoing implementation of Resolutions 3 and 4, stemming from the Tripartite Recommendations.

These resolutions focus on national reconciliation and the release of political prisoners and the resolution of political cases, respectively.

As a member of the Steering Committee for the Implementation of the Tripartite Recommendations, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr reaffirmed her commitment to working closely with the APC Party Leadership and other stakeholders to ensure these recommendations are fully and appropriately enacted.

Mayor Aki-Sawyerr also highlighted her continuous support for the process and her advocacy for the swift implementation of Resolution 4, which addresses political prisoners and political cases.

This commitment underscores her dedication to fostering peace, unity, and justice in Sierra Leone.

The meeting signifies a step forward in strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing collaborative efforts between Freetown and the UK, aimed at achieving transformative development in the city.
