The Freetown City Council (FCC) has issued a warning to the public regarding a fake Facebook account impersonating the Mayor of Freetown, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr.

The fraudulent account, listed under the name “Yvonne Sawyerr” with “Aki” in brackets, is not associated with the Mayor. The FCC emphasizes that any content shared from this account is false and should be disregarded.

In an official statement, the FCC clarified that Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr’s authentic Facebook presence includes her official account, “Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr,” and her verified page under the same name. The council has taken steps to report the impersonating account to Facebook and urges the public not to interact with or trust any information disseminated by the fake profile.

The FCC advises all social media users to remain vigilant and verify the authenticity of accounts claiming to represent public figures.
