The Antonio Rudiger Foundation, dedicated to promoting health, education, and sports development, is set to make a significant impact in Sierra Leone by distributing football equipment to community teams in Kono and Freetown.

The foundation was established by Antonio Rudiger, the renowned Real Madrid defender with Sierra Leonean roots, as a means to give back to his homeland.

During a recent interview, Patrick Kamara, a cousin of Rudiger and the project lead, expressed the family’s commitment to uplifting the lives of ordinary Sierra Leoneans. “Our focus is to change the lives of those who cannot afford basic necessities,” he stated. “We are starting with football equipment, which has cost us over $150,000. Since Rudiger is a footballer, it makes sense to support community teams that lack access to quality training gear.”

The equipment donation includes first-class soccer boots, team jerseys, windbreakers, shin guards, training sneakers for coaches, and much more. This initiative aims to ensure that young athletes in Sierra Leone have the proper tools to develop their skills and pursue their passion for football.

The distribution event kicks off on Saturday, December 28, featuring an exhibition match with single-leg hampities, where participating teams will receive backpacks filled with jerseys and other training equipment. This event promises to foster a sense of community and excitement among local football enthusiasts.

Following the initial event in Freetown, the program will expand to Kono, with additional exhibitions scheduled to take place in the mountainous area of Regent. The exhibition match and distribution of training equipment in Regent will occur on January 9, while the date for the Kono event is still pending.

With this initiative, the Antonio Rudiger Foundation aims not only to enhance sports opportunities in Sierra Leone but also to inspire a new generation
