Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Thomas Daddy Brima has vented his frustration over the match-fixing allegation against Kahula Rangers and Gulf FC’s 187 goals in the ERFA first division playoff months ago in Kenema and Kono, respectively.

“It was malicious, damaging and unfortunate news,” he noted.

He posted in one of Sierra Leone’s leading Sports forums, Salone Players Watch. “When such malicious and damaging unfortunate news came out, any serious person will react the way I did by condemning the situation and call for an investigation,” he wrote.

He explained, “after going through the process of investigation, I quickly realized that some people within the rank and file are just still trying to corrupt the game. In one of my meetings with the FIFA African rep, who retired from active football just two years ago, he was quick to say – how is it possible for 90 goals to be scored in 45 minutes? The same question we have been asking.

So, in your honest opinion, do you prefer me putting the small resources we have into running the football or to use it on cases that just do not make sense to the rest of the world?” Brima asked some football followers and journalists who have raised concern over the non-availability of the said match-fixing report after the FA promised to investigate the alleged match-fixing.

Public Relations Officer, Eastern Region Football Association (ERFA), Musa Bockarie, when contacted on the said match-fixing, noted, “We have concluded our investigation, we find nobody or team wanting on the alleging match-fixing,” he told Owl Sports. “We have concluded our playoffs; Gulf FC is in readiness for this week’s SLFA division one playoff in Makeni.”
