As we approach the 2023 elections, it is no longer a secret that Constituents of Constituency 016 which encompasses six sections in Nongowa chiefdom, Kenema District have made it categorically clear that they will do everything humanly possible for their favorite Candidate who would be aspiring for the Parliamentary seat to win.
According to them, the said Constituency which happens to be the largest within Kenema District needs a vibrant and hardworking female Candidate who would take development to their footstep and as well ensured that they are well represented in Parliament.
Speaking to this medium about their intentions, a fairless stakeholder said they have realised the decade’s mistake of choosing candidates with little or no knowledge of recent happenings in their community but represent them in Parliament and at the end of the day frustrate the constituents.
The question as to why they decided to wholeheartedly throw their supports to Madam Kornya is that, before now, only male Candidates had monopolized the Parliamentary seat with little or nothing tangible to show in terms of development, unity and political cohesion, while the learned Counsel used to interact with the constituents through her annual coordinated football, advising the youth on developmental issues amongst many other things. They said the kind of efforts Alice K. Sandy Esq has demonstrated cannot be overemphasized as she has shaped the lives of so many youth who had almost gone astray through psychosocial counselling.

Christopher John a teacher and youth representative in Koi village disclosed that many a time, they have witnessed in Ngelehun Townfield and Barry where the learned lawyer summoned youth, admonishing them about the implications of committing crimes and the negative impact it will pose to the Constituency.
Mariama Lahai, a resident of Komende Station, also intimated to this medium that they have no iota of doubt in their candidate because according to her, they know she is eligible to represent them anywhere. ” Alice K. Sandy Esq will bring tangible development to us. As women, we are encouraging our gender to promote women in politics, economics and governance”, she noted.
The government of President Bio has joined Rwanda to allocate 30% of women’s representation across the governance sectors. The enactment of the gender empowerment Bill in Sierra Leone has increased the chances of vibrant female representation in the Country.And as such, it is but very timely to have Madam Kornya as our first female member of Parliament in Constituency 016
