The issue of homosexuality is a practice prohibited by the two major religions in Sierra Leone. Most often those that are engaged in such a practice are normally isolated by their family and the society as a whole. Additionally, society normally stigmatizes those identified of associating in such acts and later their lives end in danger.

Mohamed Bangura residing with his parents at No. 1 Betham Lane has been declared wanted by the police because of an alleged murder and assault as reported by his father, Mr. Ibrahim Bangura.

According to our source, Mohamed Bangura was secretly indulging in homosexuality which his father was totally against and our source went ahead to state that, he had witnessed a situation wherein Mohamed’s father openly threatened to kill him the day he  noticed his involvement in homosexuality.

According to our source, Mr. Ibrahim had been closely monitoring the activities of his son, Mohamed and his friend, who were most times together, spending most of their time inside Mohammed’s room. On Thursday, 16 June 2016, Johnson, who is Mohamed’s alleged gay partner visited him at his Betham Lane resident where he stayed with his parents. The source said unlike other days when Mr. Ibrahim went to his electrical workshop, Johnson came to visit Mohamed but unfortunately for them, they never knew they were being monitored by Mr. Ibrahim.

The source said immediately Mohamed’s father saw Johnson coming he frowned his face and was reluctant to respond to his greetings.

 Mohamed immediately came out and welcomed his friend and took him to his room.

According to the witness, after some minutes Mohamed’s father went and knocked on the door of his son’s room. He angrily demanded that they open the door immediately but Mohamed and his friend did not open the door. Mohamed’s father had to forcefully break the door and met both Mohamed and Johnson, half naked and having anal sex.

The witness said Mohamed’s father started shouting, “gay …. gay“, as drawing to them. Mr. Ibrahim tried to grab them both to take them to the police station as he had said “I will report you to the police” the witness said. It was at this point that Mohamed resisted by pushing his father to the floor to escape with his friend.

According to our source, Mr. Ibrahim fell down when he was pushed by his son and became unconscious. People came around and took him to a nearby clinic where he was given treatment. When he regained consciousness, he reported the matter to the police that his son has attempted to kill him. The police immediately declared Mohamed wanted.

We understand that Mohamed is on the run and we understand that he has since left the country after the police declared him wanted.
